As you said kicking a girl out will alienate her fanbase. I honestly think the sub-member aspect is more for publicity, and just trying to bring the best out of the girls. The schedule for the new members is extremely tight. They don't have time to slack off or lose focus. And with the axe hanging over their head, you can be sure they'll be too afraid to slack. Which, yes, is horrible on the girls themsleves. But the idol world is a business. And H!P and UFA have to make sure they get as near perfect a product as they can get.

I also think it's sad that you are hesitant to get attached to them. I am going to get 100% attached to them. If a lot of fans had that mindset than no one would get support, and all of them would be cut. :/AimxAimhttp://janakyamottainai.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1222727667530764126.post-40082144849190757542011-08-07T17:29:38.192-07:002011-08-07T17:29:38.192-07:00Yay Doctor Who, woo!!

Idols are my main hobby, and no one I know likes them. But I have a lot of opinions on idol music, and I'm also critical of my idols alot. I really wanted to share my thoughts with someone. So, Janakya Mottainai was born! XD

And I have to say taking that plunge and making an idol blog, was the best thing I ever did. I went from someone who was basically a casual H!P fan, to someone who knows everything about H!P, and a lot of other idol groups. And now I'm covering 20 different idol groups or more on my blog.

I'm also in the same boat as you, I can't really afford to buy lots of idol merch. But I'm happy with the little bit I have. Blogging also makes me feel like even though I can't support my idols, at least it still feels like I'm contributing to them.

Honestly, though I don't find that blogging has too many draw backs for me. There are ways you can write about most of what you want to cover on your blog. I usually spend about an hour writting my various news posts on JM. And then for more thought out posts, I pretty much save them for when I have the time. Which is why my blog is mostly news posts, with lengthy posts randomly scattered around. Lol. But my PV reviews do take about an hour or more to write. There's not really a way around that. Unless you skip the screencaps in the review. XD

I have also had my share of negative feedback. People usually get upset when I say I don't like Michishige Sayumi. But people have also gotten upset when I said I didn't like Chinen Yuri, and questioned if AKB48 deserved to break a record. But it's all good, you learn to take stuff like that in stride. Lol.

Sorry if this reply is long. I agreed with this post a lot, and wanted to respond to those points. ><AimxAimhttp://janakyamottainai.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1222727667530764126.post-13917316648231766372011-08-06T21:56:56.973-07:002011-08-06T21:56:56.973-07:00@Cat: Thanks for reading and liking this! Also, back then, AKB was relatively unknown so I took it upon myself to try and write about them in hopes that someone might start liking them and became a fan of them xD

We also would have to add the fact that I don't have anyone in real life who shares this interest of mine even remotely! And since it's my main hobby I always want to say things about everything I watch and no one cares :( so I can write them in my blog instead!

Obviously as time has gone by (it's been 3 years already) my blog has evolved to something less informative and a bit more opinionated. I wish I had time to watch as much idol stuff as I'd like to watch or to write about everything AKB ever does like I did before, but real life can be quite demanding, and since everything I write becomes a wall of text, I spend at least 2 hours writing any blog post. Yikes.

I'm rambling now aren't I? Anyway, just wanted to thank you for writing this insightful piece. I always have fun with new blogs, whether I agree with the blogger's opinion or not, I enjoy looking at things I like from a different perspective and that's what makes it more valuable to me in the end :DCathttp://intlwota.com/aitakattanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1222727667530764126.post-82279239479741061732011-07-31T17:13:35.412-07:002011-07-31T17:13:35.412-07:00I think "Wani to Shampoo" is less 's...I think "Wani to Shampoo" is less 'serious' and more... frantic? If I had to dislike any idol, it'd be Momoko."

"Almost everyone else found Momo's dancing during that performance entertaining, but *sighs* you just HAVE TO take it personally, don't you (No sense of humor? Come on now, it was meant to be funny, sweetie :P)?" Honestly, this is really quite condescending. But anyways, I'm not taking it personally, and I get that other people found it funny. I just thought that part was really rude, in my opinion.

"Oh, I guess Momo & Rika have something in common then, huh? *sarcasm*
Momo's cutesy persona is not her real self either. "

No, I meant that Charmy is a character. It's literally not supposed to be Rika. In her Charmy character, she literally starts talking about Rika as someone else. It's not a matter of on-stage persona; it's a separate character created for Hello!Morning. Momoko's stage persona is not supposed to be 100% separate from herself.

I honestly don't want to say anything about people who like Momoko; I have a friend who adores her, and that's fine. It's just my opinion that if I had to pick one idol I disliked (which I did, for this challenge) that I would have to pick Momoko.Serenytyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14226343992599796908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1222727667530764126.post-37757180991504428132011-07-27T13:15:28.555-07:002011-07-27T13:15:28.555-07:00Oh, and I don't hate Ishikawa Rika or anything...Oh, and I don't hate Ishikawa Rika or anything (I actually very much like her), I just lashed out at her because I noticed a lot of similarities between her & Momoko, and I thought that it was weird that you were saying this and that about Momo's persona, but not criticizing Rika's (since her onscreen persona is pretty similar to Momoko's).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1222727667530764126.post-35113913539646172952011-07-27T13:05:59.776-07:002011-07-27T13:05:59.776-07:00^
Starting to dislike an idol based off of ONE per...^
Starting to dislike an idol based off of ONE performance is well....kind of....let's just say not too smart (I want to say stupid, but I figured that, if I said that, I'd come off as rude & very judgmental, so let's just go with not too smart! :D). Almost everyone else found Momo's dancing during that performance entertaining, but *sighs* you just HAVE TO take it personally, don't you (No sense of humor? Come on now, it was meant to be funny, sweetie :P)?
(If the staff thought what Momoko was doing was inappropriate, they wouldn't have had the camera focused on her doing that part in the first place anyways).

And I do believe that Momoko may actually want some attention (Certain things she says sometimes convinces me), but you know what? What is wrong with her seriously wanting some attention, huh? EVERYONE wants attention (It's only natural), and in an industry that values appearance over talent, and pretty much only gives special privileges and/or advancements to those that actually stick out, I'd say it's pretty understandable why she may want some attention. :)

(These stick out members by the way, are usually the most popular & have a lot of fans due to how much attention they get.. just in case you didn't know :P)

"Also, her Charmy persona was never supposed to be actually Rika herself. It's a character she created to deal with her low self esteem."

Oh, I guess Momo & Rika have something in common then, huh? *sarcasm*
Momo's cutesy persona is not her real self either. Outside of H!P she is quite boyish (How do I know this? Well, its because the members have said this themselves), and apparently Momoko has the mind of an adult, which probably means she's pretty mature (Captain aka Saki Shimizu is the one who said this about Momoko btw).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1222727667530764126.post-84371153500289703542011-07-27T10:24:09.842-07:002011-07-27T10:24:09.842-07:00@Anon: Well aren't you judgey McJudge?
The re...@Anon: Well aren't you judgey McJudge?

The reason that Momoko gets a bit on my nerves is that it all feels too serious. Like she's looking for attention seriously. Rika always did it as a joke; she'd say something attention-whorish, then someone (usually Yossy or Miki) would come in and say something to knock her down a few pegs. It was also never and will never be her entire personality; while in MM, Rika was extremely reliable and focused a lot on taking are of her juniors.

Also, her Charmy persona was never supposed to be actually Rika herself. It's a character she created to deal with her low self esteem.

Sayu tries too hard to be cute, but she always seems to be doing it to be funny; it's more like a running joke, going "I'm the cutest." It's a bit annoying, but again, it's a bit of a joke.

Momoko's schtick never bothered me until I started watching Fankora and I saw the Aisu Kuriimu to My Purin performance. They have the girls on the sidelines to cheer along and have fun, but when no one else was doing so she stood up and started doing the dance to the song. This moment was what set me off, because it really seemed like an inappropriate time to do this. This was when Zoku v-u-den was supposed to shine, and Momoko just essentially went "don't look at them, look at ME!!!" which honestly really pissed me off.

Rika and Sayumi have had stage personas where they try to look for attention, yes. However, they really knew when they shouldn't do that. They didn't burst in on someone else's performance and go "nah, you should look at me instead." That's where the difference lies.Serenytyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14226343992599796908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1222727667530764126.post-45614022724074582582011-07-27T10:08:35.837-07:002011-07-27T10:08:35.837-07:00You know, you really have no right to criticize Mo...You know, you really have no right to criticize Momoko about trying to be cute, especially since your favorite member is Ishikawa Rika (...Seriously...WTF man...).. >___>

And also:

"Momoko really strikes me as a bit of an attention whore"

ALL idols are attention whores really (They're supposed to try to grab their audiences attention)....
